Marcus Thompson created Tha Index in 1994 as a studio reference guide in book form. Since then, the book has evolved into an Internet site with a mission to establish a worldwide presence assisting DJs and Producers.

Prior to creating Tha Index, Marcus was a member of the (1980's R&B group) Timex Social Club and co-wrote the hit single Rumors. He has been a long-standing member of BMI as a songwriter and publisher since 1986.
